Wild and Meaningful

What Spring Wildflowers Teach Us About Living a Symbolic Life

Using familiar spring wildflowers, we will explore the symbolic life as a way of seeing and living that connects everyday experience to deeper meaning. The symbolic life is how we interpret our inner world, respond to life with intention, and stay rooted in what matters. This webinar places the natural strategies of spring ephemerals alongside the human capacity for meaning-making, offering a lens into how we adapt, reflect, and live more consciously.

Meet Carrie

Carrie Elvey grew up in Holmes County coming home with her pockets full of snakes and bugs, playing in the creek, and exploring the woods. She never outgrew this. She has been a naturalist for 30 years, formerly at The Wilderness Center and currently at the United Titanium Bug Zoo on the Wooster campus of OSU.Today she is most passionate about reconnecting adults to the amazing natural history stories happening in their own backyards.

Meet Bethany

Bethany grew up in Stark County with her nose in a book and her heart in the stars. She was the kind of kid who built fairy altars in the woods, led pretend church services in the backyard, and read encyclopedias for fun. She never outgrew this. These days she works as a Spiritual Director and Intuitive, helping people make sense of the stories unfolding within their inner realms. After years as a religious professional and more years in grief care, she’s most drawn to quiet symbols, soulful conversation, and the path that leads back to the Self.

About Us

Carrie grew up chasing bugs through creeks. Bethany grew up building fairy altars in the woods. One became a naturalist, the other a Spiritual Director—but both never stopped listening to the wild world. Together, they invite you to slow down, look closer, and rediscover the stories unfolding all around you. Whether it’s the rhythm of the seasons or the quiet stirrings of your soul, their work together helps you remember what you already know: that nature is interconnected, and you belong.
